Marks for Ali case

The way the Government has handled different parts of the Ali deporation has ranged from impressive to dismal. My marks below:

NZ Immigration Service: 2/10 for letting Ali in so easily.

NZSIS: 5/10 – hard to rate but it seems to be the case that his presence was brought to their attention by others, not by their own work.

NZ citizens who dobbed him in: 10/10 – if they had not done so and the media discovered he was doing pilot training here, we would be a global laughing stock.

Immigration Minister David Cunliffe: 9.5/10 for deporting him without appeal or delay. Nice firm decisive action.

PM Helen Clark: 8/10 for rubutting idiocy from Keith Locke

Police Minister Annette King: 3/10 for getting basic facst wrong and worse accusing the Opposition of having false numbers

NZ Police Assistant Commission Jon White: 2/10 for not even knowing about the different designated terrorist lists, despite being in charge of counter-terrorism.
