BREAKING NEWS – Reports are coming in of a riot at Police National Headquarters in Wellington. Details are sketchey at this stage, but tweets from inside the building indicate violent protests after senior staff learned of pay increase the New Zealand government has given to their counterparts in Papua New Guniea. One tweeter, @pistoffplod noted ‘Bentleys. Masaratis. And now huge bonuses. They didn’t even need to threaten to strike. Where our money?’. Our reporter managed a short verbal exchange with a police constable as he afixed an “Equity with PNG” protest banner out of a level 2 window. The staffer claimed that the PNG Police at APEC did little other than drink, and loiter at the security cordon waiting for selfies with Ms Ardern. He continued, “While we’re busy dealing with real criminals, for example New Zealanders who fail to belt up in carparks, those PNG Police were cheating local dealers out of their hard-earned drugs and generally making a nusance of themselves with Masarati drifting competitions in the APEC carpark”. As our correspondent left the PNHQ, a negotiator with a loudhailer had arrived, and she was emploring those inside to desist from the violent protest and to instead plan a strike like every other decent New Zealand public service organisation. “If it’s good enough for St Johns, it’s good enough for New Zealand police”. She reportedly offered priority access to the Labour Government’s award-winning ‘Schedule a Strike’ service. We will bring you more as this story unfolds. ENDS

In fact why is gayness something that needs to be celebrated and promoted in the first place? Are the deviants trying to attract recruits or something?
The best news is that the whole thing might be canned because the differences are insurmountable.

    Being gay or having a strong persistent feeling that you are stuck in the wrong body type makes life pretty hard and frequently unhappy. It costs us nothing to accept these people as they are give them a bit of latitude and not persecute them for mental issues that are beyond their ability to control. If they are happier they are more likely to contribute productively to society. Live and let live.
    So calling them perverts is unnecessary – doesn’t improve your life and makes theirs worse. That said they are becoming waaay too precious about requiring special treatment, needs to be a bit of push-back of the fit in or fuck off variety.

      The problem as I see it is not ‘accepting’ homosexuals as being entitled to the same human rights as the rest of the population. It now goes much further than that.
      When homosexuality was first de-criminalised I seem to recall being assured by the powers-that-be that we would still be free to regard the behavior as morally wrong if we could not agree with it. We were lied to in this regard, and the issue is no longer just about ‘acceptance’.
      We are now being required to positively affirm that such behavior is morally acceptable, and to agree that it is proper for gay activists to actively promote their lifestyle choice within schools and wider society as well. It is no longer acceptable in the public space to promote traditional moral values without being persecuted as a ‘hater’ or bigot. We are no longer allowed, without abuse, to argue that the behavior of homosexuals (males in particular tend toward gross promiscuity) is morally wrong or indeed pathological and unhealthy in nature.
      Personally I have no particular beef with homosexuals as individuals. But I have problems with not being free to discuss moral issues any longer freely in our communities, and I have a problem with the power of the State being used to effectively coerce conformity with the political and social objectives of the ‘movement’.

        Once upon a time people’s sexual orientation was their own business, and of no interest as long as they didn’t act out in public and frighten the horses.
        It all started to unravel with the homosexual law reform activity, and the publicity (Shock! Horror!) it engendered.
        Most of us still have no interest in other people’s gender unless it is the orientation as ours, but when it is constantly drawn to our attention we begin to have opinions too.
        Today’s young alphabetically gendered activists have no sense of discretion about their private lives, and seem to think that everyone should know about them in detail.

      Don’t disagree with your sentiment but just trying to reconcile your concern with making them feel worse when they advertise their post parade ‘fisting and cock action’ party (or whatever it was) that goof chipped in for last year. I’m not aware of other community-based groups that go out of their way to advertise an intention to engage in promiscuous sexual behaviour in a way that can be reasonably regarded as a breach of good taste. Even the skanks on bikes didn’t advertise a mega root/anal fest post their parade.

        Meh, if you want to get outraged go ahead, I find that over-the-top sexuality more comical than anything – lots of ‘straight’ deviants get up to that level of weird and far beyond. All consenting adults, it doesn’t affect us in the slightest so don’t see why I should care or (from a libertarian standpoint) have any say in the matter.

    I couldn’t care less if those that feel the to need to abbreviate their gender/sexual orientation, live their lives as consenting adults. Same with sex workers and in the porn industry in general. But FFS when you need a parade to celebrate your diversity while maintaining you’re just like everyone else, do it with your own coin.     NZ is following the UK model where they are more interested in the facebook posts of working class Brits rather than stopping stabbings in the street.

  It’s all about having the NZ Police do an appropriate amount of grovelling and kowtowing to the new cultural high priests in the “LGBT community”.
  
  As I understand it, the Police were happy with being humiliated while in uniform. But there is a radical faction in the “LGBT” movement that wants to demonstrate ever more power over our national police force by making them remove their uniforms.
  
  The fact that one of our most important national institutions is willing to be bullied in this manner just shows how fucked up our society has become.

  The only time a persons sexuality is relevant to me is if I want to fuck them. Since I am married, this is not too often the case. So for the most part a person’s sexuality or orientation doesn’t interest me. I don’t want to know, and I don’t fucking care.

        Nope this is the idiot trap for people with no understanding of physics.
        
        People of little understanding will say crap like: “My computer has improved by a factor of 2000 in the last twenty years, so electricity and battery technology will too. If they don’t it is because of Big Oil.”
        
        They won’t. That’s because computers are still nowhere near the maximum theoretical efficiency while battery and electric technology is. Therefore computers can still improve, but EVs can’t improve much.
        
        Then they say crap about quantum physics and carbon nano tubes etc are going to be a game-changer. Nope, sorry, the industry has been promising silver bullets for decades, but they seldom turn into reality.
        
        One thing that is true, is that all these fake technologies etc have generated a deep trough. Tesla gets something like US$37k per car they make.
        
        Our pie-fueled energy minister wants to give away $420 million in a stupid troughing exercise.

        Quite. I have been in the technology field and such for over 35 years. Got the degrees, got the patents, got the scars to prove it…
        
        In that time I’ve seen a lot of bullshit and lots of promises.
        
        Experience is that:
        A) You can’t feelz away the laws of physics.
        B) Hype is bullshit.
        C) Almost all researchers that are feeding on the public trough promise all sorts of breakthroughs in the next 5 years etc and almost none of them come to be.
        
        There was as much hype about solar this and EV that 20 years ago. Not really much progress and certainly nothing ground breaking. Lots of taxpayer money sunk into the trough though which has bought off many used-to-be scientists.
        
        Batteries have advanced a bit in the 20 years, but little else has. Batteries don’t supply power. They only store it. Still need to burn coal/whatever to charge the batteries.

    Stephanie, it is not the fear of new technology. Indeed we have just installed a solar electricity system at home.
    
    It is rather an example of practicality and cost. For those of us who live beyond the comfort of urban Auckland or Wellington, an EV makes as much sense as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Parker is a weasel, a liar, and a charlatan, having ruined the perfectly viable business of his so-called friend/business partner during easy trading times. He then misled parliament as to the problems he had misleading Inland Revenue, being demoted by Clark and sent to the back of the class.
If he gets his scone grabbers on this fund he will totally mutilate every cent of those that have contributed. Never mind, they won’t be Labour/Green voters . . . they just leech off taxpayers for life!

    The fund has to invest in something, and infrastructure companies are often used for such purposes because they are typically in stable environments with reliable cash flows.
    
    Almost the exact opposite of early stage companies. Those are speculative investments where the hope is that five failures will be offset by one spectacular success. But when you introduce government into the equation with all the virtue-signalling and corruption possible, the odds of success are likely to plummet.
    
    So in other words, Key had a clue or two, Parker, not a clue at all.

Trump has defended Saudi Arabia over the barbaric murder of Khashoggi, the worst human rights abuse in my living memory. He said the facts are unclear, despite previously saying the Saudi story was “credible”. He said there won’t be any sanctions. Of course he’s highly critical of China’s human rights abuses.

Finally, a Federal judge has ruled his immigration policy is contrary to the constitution.

Three examples of why this POTUS is as corrupt as any other. Yet you’ll all defend him simply because it’s not Hillary.

  First point, Ivanna did so when not an actual Federal Employee. However it was indeed still wrong and when notified she admitted the use and stopped using the private email and all emails sent that way have been archived and are available. It is said that there was no classified or secret information in any of those emails but we cannot be sure of that – however it will be possible to check as the emails are stored.
  
  Contrast that with the Clinton case where she used a private server shared by a number of people, large numbers of the emails send and received on that server were not just deleted but also wiped clean in defiance of both the law on retentions and a subpoena issued before they were deleted. Clinton also lied about the presence of the server, as did Obama and other members of his administration. Evidence collected by the FBI revealed that classified information up to and including information supposed to be restricted to SCIF facilities was contained in emails on the server. Some of the deleted emails that were later recovered contained classified data.
  
  So Ivanka is possibly guilty of the improper use but has complied with the data retention rules and isn’t as far as we know guilty of security breaches. She also has been as far as has been so far revealed, been truthful about this matter. Just BTW this happened in early 2017. Any investigation could easily review the emails to see if there was security lapses and maybe just to confirm that all emails were indeed turned over. Clinton was guilty of deleting emails in breach of the law, of obstructing justice by doing so when under subpoena, and of breaches of the security laws which don’t require intent to apply. So undoubtedly guilty from the evidence we have, but for some reason never prosecuted.
  
  On Saudi Arabia, real politik. Bad behaviour, but you are responding to a Turkish information operation intended to undermine any US – Saudi cooperation to benefit Turkey and Turkey’s ally, Iran.
  
  The Judge, Obama appointed who simply ignoring Obama’s blatant ignoring of the Constitution relating to the DACA executive orders yet ruling falsely that Obama can break the Consitution, but Trump cannot attempt to right that wrong. The ruling will be appealed, but it is a limited ruling anyway. Only applies to denying asylum to illegal immigrants who entered illegally. Can not prevent efforts to stop them entering in the first place.
  
  Unlikely to happen, but that Judge needs to be impeached and removed for blantantly ignoring the Constitution and ruling on narrow and biased political grounds.

I thought that the rainbow lot simply wanted to be treated just like everyone else – so why do they want to flaunt themselves in front of the nation. Maybe they were just joking when they said they want to be treated like everyone else. Doesnt matter why – just so long as they keep screwing up (ie: no uniformed police) then they will be seen as weirdo’s.

Another thing that amused me – and which is actually an idea worth considering – it has been decided in New Plymouth that black faces should not be seen in public (Ive been incommunicado for a few days) – theyve never worried me but maybe they should be banned. Were banning everything else that offends 2 or more people.

It could be a interesting week for the show pony if this is fact when the report from the enquiry is released as the Ministry look like it is not prepared to take the fall for the Ministers blatant incompetence.

      That’s because there’s a hole in the whole “one the minister has signed, they can’t change their mind” narrative.
      
      They hoped for a rushed decision which would have avoided the required scrutiny. They got it. Then the scrutiny happened and it all turned to shit.

  The Ministry wont want to be accountable for such a strange decision. The reasons may be hidden for a while but if it is corruption it will be outed.
  The underlying level of criminality revealed will be hard to stop for all parties. There is too much money at stake. This is the scenario for bribery and that leaks when a party feels aggrieved about not getting their “rightful” share.

  But there’s also Chelsea Clinton, good grief, described as ‘the vice-chair of the Clinton Foundation’ (i.e. works for Daddy) and two Australian politicians – and when was the last time you were ‘inspired’ by one of them, eh?

      But the link you posted doesn’t support your argument. The figure of 6% is for all forms of blood linked relationships – which includes father/daughter, mother/son, aunt/nephew, uncle/neice and other closely linked couplings.
      
      As your article points out, the rate of birth defects observed in Bradford was 3%. Which reflects the risk suggested by the linked articles on Wikipedia.

        3% was for all of Bradford, including non-co-sanguinous parents, 6% for (mostly) cousin marriage. 1.7% for whole of England, but would be slightly little less than that if excluded progeny of cousin marriages.
        
        So from that about 4x the risk of birth defects from cousin marriage, and significantly dumber kids to boot.
        
        But a little more googling:
        British Pakistanis are 13 times more likely to have children with genetic disorders than the general population. They are three percent of all births, but produce just under a third of all British children with genetic health problems.

        If you take the time to actually read the wikipedia article, it goes on to explain that the birth defect rate goes up considerably when first-cousin couplings are carried out across multiple-generations. Which I understand is the principle cause of the problems that are being seen in ethnically closed communities like the British Pakistanis. As any farmer knows well – multi-generational inbreeding always leads to disaster.
        
        I think Nania Mahuta is a worthless slug who needs to find a new gravy train. But I don’t think it is fair to criticise her for marrying her cousin.

      And, unlike Pakistan and other Islamic countries) these children are looked after until they die. The drain on the British taxpayer is enormous – many of these children are looked after 24/7 in hospital wards and the others have special daily carers at home as the mother will usually have several other children to look after. And what is worse, every child in the home may suffer the same genetic defects – but Insh’alla!
      
      Ten years ago it cost the taxpayer 25o,000 p.a.sterling to care for a child at home compared to a diabetic who needs about 80.000 per annum for treatment. I dread to think what those figures are now, not much left in the NHS for the indigenous folk who have paid their taxes for medical help they are not able to access. Plus the fact that Muslim wives don’t work but their disabled child will get all the help it needs because of our tolerance and Christian way of life.

      Gump — That’s ok. I think what they had was insanely overpriced. BUT my question is something needs to be done… and it’s been crickets ever since… all the while people, traffic, goods, all sit or crawl along everyday. Look at google maps — it’s a clusterf*ck from 3:30. In fact it is right now even. And Fridays are diabolical. They could even do small fixes to optimise current lanes — add a turn only lane at Nielson and Onehunga, extend the turn lane at Church and Gt South… lots of sensible options I’d think. The rail link certainly isn’t going to help.
      Someone should campaign on “Optimise Auckland” with actual fixes across the city.

        Cars are already fashion items – people happily pay 2-3x as much for German vehicles with similar utility to cheaper Jaanese vehicles for something they can show off their wealth with. Electric cars at 1.5-2x cost can survive easily in the current marketplace, and as they move down to similar price (battery costs are falling rapidly as mass production cost curves do their thing) they will cut into fossil fuel market rapidly.
        
        Battery swapping would make it happen all the faster.

I had one of those “facts of life” conversations with my son last night. Out of the blue he said “Dad, what is socialism”. The time has come I thought to sit him down and talk politics. I thought it went well and his natural instincts seem to be in agreement with capitalism. Try telling a kid that a hard working, innovative, gifted teacher gets paid the same as a lazy, ignorant teacher and the message hits home. A child’s instinctive belief is that hard work and talent should be rewarded in a fair society.

If it is found that she had classified information in those emails, kept them on a purposely-built private server in her house, and failed to hand over 30,000 emails to make them available for discovery via the Freedom of Information Act, then she should be charged. Maybe the beginning of new policing system?

At a conference 2/3 Dec Cindy will sign us up to a UN Refugee Agreement that allows the UN to decide the numbers and where refugees come from.
At a conference 8/9 Dec in Poland Cindy will complete the signing of the Paris Agreement. In Dec 2015 countries were given 3 years until 12 Dec 2018 to pull out without any ramifications. After that NZ will be committed to whatever cost the UN decides we will bear.

Neither matter has been subject of debate in the Parliament. neither has been the subject of a Bill with the usual public Submissions.

The reasons are the conditions of both are so onorus no citizen with any common sense would agree to the terms and conditions.

Signing up to both is part of Cindys strategy to get a UN job when the morons who voted for her wake up to her real and personal agenda.

We Remember the Great War, While Palestinians Live It

There was something gruesomely familiar about the way we commemorated the supposed end of the First World War a hundred years ago. Not just the waterfalls of poppies and the familiar names – Mons, the Somme, Ypres, Verdun – but the almost total silence about all those who died in the First World War, whose eyes were not as blue as ours might be or whose skin was not as pink as ours might be or whose suffering continues from the Great War to this very day.

Even those Sunday supplements that dared stray from the western front only briefly touched on the after-effects of the war in the new Poland, the new Czechoslovakia, the new Yugoslavia and Bolshevik Russia, with a mention of Turkey. The mass famine – perhaps 1.6 million dead – of the Arabs of the Levant under Turkish looting and Allied blockade in the First World War received not a word. Even more astoundingly, I could find not a single reference to the greatest crime against humanity of the First World War – not the murder of Belgian hostages by German troops in 1914, but the Armenian genocide of a million and a half Christian civilians in 1915 by Germany’s Ottoman Turkish ally.

What happened to that key document of the First World War in the Middle East, the 1917 Balfour Declaration which promised a homeland for Jews in Palestine and doomed the Palestinian Arabs (a majority in Palestine at the time) to what I call refugeedom? Or the 1916 Sykes-Picot agreement which chopped up the Middle East and betrayed the promise of Arab independence? Or General Allenby’s advance on Jerusalem during which – forgotten now by our beloved commentators – he initiated the first use of gas in the Middle East. So smitten are we by the savagery of modern Syrian and Iraqi history, that we forget – or do not know – that Allenby’s men fired gas shells at the Turkish army in Gaza. Of all places. But gas in the collective memory last weekend was confined, yet again, to the Western Front.

First World War Allied war cemeteries in both the Middle East and Europe contain tens of thousands of Muslim graves – Algerians, Moroccans, Indians – yet I did not see a photograph of one of them. Nor of the Chinese labourers who died on the Western Front carrying shells for British troops – nor the African soldiers who fought and died for France on the Somme. Only in France, it seems did President Macron remember this salient feature of the conflict, as well he should. For more than 30,000 men from the Comoros, Senegal, the Congo, Somalia, Guinea and Benin died in the Great War.

There used to be a monument to them in Rheims. But the Germans launched a ferocious racist attack on black French troops who participated in the post-First World War occupation of Germany for raping German women and for “endangering the future of the German race”. All untrue, of course, but by the time Hitler’s legions reinvaded France in 1940, the Nazi propaganda against these same men had done its work. Well over 2,000 black French troops were massacred by the Wehrmacht in 1940; the monument was destroyed. …..

      Bin Laden was a part of the Afghani Mujahideen that the Americans backed and financed because they were fighting against Soviet forces that had entered Afghanistan during the cold war.
      
      Bin Laden was considered to be a US asset for many years before he became radicalised and turned against the West.

        It just reiterates what I said: That Khashoggi and Bin Laden were friends during the 1980s when Bin Laden was considered to be a useful ally of the US during the Cold War.

Following Phil Goff’s disastrous reign as Mayor (also see linked article), I’m starting to seriously consider throwing my hat into the ring for next year’s election (under a local body ticket called “Prosperity Auckland” that I’m thinking of setting up). I’m young (late twenties), but believe that I can do a better job as Mayor than Phil has done.

As of yet, this is what I plan on campaigning on if I run (ideas I had some time ago):
1. The regional fuel tax…gone.

2. Rates cut between 2-5% first year and no raising the rates first term. Potential for further cuts in second and third year depending on budget. Candidates would be required to sign a document that if they run under the Prosperity umbrella and break this rates pledge if elected, they resign.

3. Slashing of council spending by minimum of 5-10% within first term and overall reduction of spending by a minimum of 15-25% by six years time from next year’s spending level. This would mean the council could focus on paying off its ballooning debt and have room for further rates cuts whilst still having money available for infrastructure like transport.

4. A reduction in bloated council staffing levels by 10-20% over six years.

I wouldn’t put my name forward if someone who is more qualified and is of a similar policy mindset steps forward. I’d want to play a role in helping them in that case (if something is in the works in the background, I would love to know and get involved). But for now, I’m looking at potentially getting into this, and if I do, would love to create a local body group under which to run, and get buy-in from anyone here or elsewhere as well.

    No local body/central xp, but did initially start my career in public sector, now in private. Only low-level employee. Worked in an entrepreneurial arena for a few months recently. Currently working on my own business endeavour (very early stages) as a side hustle.
    
    Initially ambivalent on (but intrigued by) Donald Trump, but over time my feelings of him have started to move towards a negative direction. I disagree with many of his stances, but do agree on some. But as we all know, Donald is full of surprises……..though it’s not a discussion I’m having now. Latter stage perhaps.

The last time I looked in October last year – noting they had been wrong for 4 years in a row- They say above average – and this is what dumb dumb media report but then you read it:- Above average 40% chance; Average 30% below average 30% so NIWA spread their bets and as any punter knows you will pick up some wins but lose more often.

Sue Bradford, ex green mp and leftist protester, will be promoting her new book at the Titirangi Library this weekend where you can purchase copies. Interesting that if you want to talk about ideas on the right you need to book a venue, hire security and then have your ideas approved by Phil Goff. But even if your ideas are political or militant on the left and you have been arrested, no worries, free council facilities are provided which will be a great opportunity to promote the book and also her party politics. Will they be consistent. Can other politicians promote books at the library.
